This Privacy Policy explains how Dockd, LLC ("Dockd," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use the Dockd marketplace platform, website, and mobile application (collectively, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
Overview
Dockd operates a peer-to-peer rental marketplace. To make that marketplace function safely and reliably, we need to collect certain information about our users — both Hosts (asset owners) and Renters. We collect this information to verify identities, process payments, facilitate bookings, and improve the Platform.
What we don't do: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not share your information with third parties except as described in this Policy.
Information We Collect
- Account Information - All Users at Signup
- Full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photo
- Identity Verification - All Users
- Government-issued ID type and number, driver's license state
- Licensing & Certification - Watercraft Renters
- Boating safety certificate number, issuing state
- Listing Information - Hosts when creating listings
- Asset details, photos, pricing, rules, location, Hull ID Number
- Transaction Information - Renters at booking
- Booking details, number of guests/passengers, special requests, emergency contact
- Payment Information - All users making/receiving payments
- Processed by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers
- Communications - All Users
- Messages sent through the Platform between Hosts and Renters
- Reviews & Feedback - All users post-rental
- Ratings and written reviews submitted after a booking
Information We Collect Automatically When you use the Platform, we automatically collect:
- Device information: Device type, operating system, browser type and version
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, clicks, and interactions
- Log data: IP address, access times, referring URLs, and error logs
- Location data: General location inferred from IP address; precise location only if you grant permission
- Cookies and tracking technologies: See Section 9 for details
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third parties including:
- Stripe, for payment processing and fraud prevention
- Identity verification services
- Analytics providers
- Social media platforms, if you choose to connect your account or sign in via social login

How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below and never for third-party advertising purposes.
Between Hosts and Renters To facilitate bookings, we share certain information between Hosts and Renters:
- Once a booking is confirmed, the Renter's name and contact information is shared with the Host
- The Host's exact pickup location, contact information, and rental terms are shared with the confirmed Renter
- Prior to booking, only general listing information and public profile details are visible
Service Providers We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform:
- Stripe — payment processing and Host payouts
- Sharetribe — marketplace platform infrastructure
- Cloud hosting providers — secure data storage
- Analytics providers — usage and performance analysis
- Email and communication providers — transactional and support communications
- All service providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed.
Legal Requirements We may disclose your information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a subpoena or court order, protect the rights or safety of Dockd or others, or investigate fraud or security issues.
Business Transfers In the event of a merger, acquisition, sale, or other transfer of Dockd assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via email and/or a prominent notice on the Platform.
Payment Data
All payment processing on the Dockd Platform is handled by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. Dockd does not collect, store, or have direct access to your full credit or debit card numbers, bank account numbers, or other sensitive financial data.
When you enter payment information on Dockd, it is transmitted directly and securely to Stripe. Your use of Stripe's payment services is subject to Stripe's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, available at stripe.com. We encourage you to review Stripe's policies.
We do retain non-sensitive payment metadata such as transaction amounts, dates, booking IDs, and confirmation numbers for recordkeeping and dispute resolution purposes.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Platform services. Specifically:
- Account information — retained for the life of your account plus 3 years after closure
- Transaction records and booking history — retained for 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes
- Identity verification records — retained for 5 years after last transaction
- Communications and messages — retained for 3 years
- Marketing preferences — retained until you opt out or request deletion
- When retention periods expire, we securely delete or anonymize your information. You may request earlier deletion as described in Section 8 (Your Rights), subject to legal retention obligations.
Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
These measures include:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption of sensitive data at rest
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data
- Regular security assessments and audits
- Secure payment processing through PCI-compliant Stripe
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@dockd.com.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on the Platform. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.
Types of Cookies We Use Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function, including login sessions and security features. Cannot be disabled. Functional cookies: Remember your preferences such as language and location settings. Analytics cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Platform so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and anonymous.
We do not use third-party advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not allow ad networks to track your behavior on Dockd for advertising purposes.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect Platform functionality.
Children's Privacy
The Dockd Platform is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly deactivate their account and delete any associated personal information. If you believe a minor has created an account on Dockd, please contact us immediately at dockd@docktodoor.net
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months
Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions
Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. No opt- out is necessary.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights To submit a CCPA request, contact us at privacy@dockd.com or write to us at our mailing address. We will respond within 45 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.
